Tết (chữ Hán: 節), short for Tết Nguyên Đán (chữ Hán: 節元旦lit. ’Festival of the first day’) is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, and it is one of the most important festivals and celebrations in Vietnamese culture. During Tet, people return to their hometown, visit their families and relatives, reward themselves some relaxing days after a hard-working year, and celebrate the new year with many festive activities.
This year, Tết starts February 17th to celebrate the arrival of spring based on the Vietnamese calendar, and it ends on March 3, 2026. Tet is always the 1st January in the Lunar Calendar. This date changes year by year and falls between late January to late February in the Solar Calendar.
